Go Fish!
2026
14 x 14" x 50"
Statement
Fish is brain food! The brain loves challenges. In this quilt, the brain is challenged with prime numbers throughout; there are a prime number of fish types, each of which appears a prime number of times, with the exception of the lone red herring. My goal was to engage viewers’ senses as they look at the juxtaposition of fish: arranged in the order they can be found in water, represented by their relative sizes to each other, and created with different textures to give clues as to which fish species they are. As an added bonus, when people fish at night they add "fish bells" to alert them when a fish is on the line. Make the bells ring by pulling the bottom cord or jiggling this quilt.
